How to swap and bridge crypto with an EOA wallet
An externally owned account, or EOA, is an Ethereum-style account controlled by a private key. You use a wallet to authorize actions from it. ShillSwap lets you connect a supported wallet, choose assets and networks, and review a swap or bridge before approving the required requests.
EOA describes an account type, not a wallet brand. A wallet application may offer different account types. Solana uses a different account model; the term EOA should not be applied to every self-custody wallet.
1. Connect the wallet holding your source asset
Check that the connected account holds the asset on the network you intend to use. USDC on Ethereum and USDC on Base are separate network balances, even if the wallet displays both under the same symbol.
Select the Sell asset and network, the Buy asset and network, and your amount. If a receiving address is requested, verify that it belongs on the destination network and that you control it or have verified the recipient.
2. Leave room for gas
EOA transactions on EVM networks normally require the network's native gas asset. ETH pays gas on Ethereum and Base. A token balance alone does not mean you have enough gas to send it.
Also consider later destination transactions: receiving USDC does not necessarily provide the native asset needed to spend it afterward. Check both sides rather than assuming the bridge supplies gas.
3. Understand approvals and transactions
For an ERC-20 token, your wallet may request a spending approval before the swap transaction. The approval grants permission to a spender; it does not complete the swap. Inspect the spender, token and amount before authorizing it.
Native-asset transfers and other account models can behave differently. Not every swap requires the same prompts. Read each request rather than clicking through by habit.
4. Follow destination completion
Review the loaded route, costs and slippage before proceeding. After signing, follow the app status and available explorer links. Source submission is not proof that destination assets have arrived.
If the outcome is uncertain, keep the transaction hash and investigate before retrying. Never enter your seed phrase or private key into a swap page or send it to someone offering support.
Common questions
Can I bridge from an EVM EOA to Solana?
A supported cross-chain route can deliver to a compatible Solana receiving address. Do not use the EVM account's address as a substitute. Read the Solana guide.
Is approval the final swap?
No. Approval is permission to spend a token. Follow the subsequent transaction and destination status separately.
