Bridge to Ethereum mainnet and swap tokens
Use ShillSwap to move assets into Ethereum mainnet and, where a route is available, swap into the token you want to receive. Select Ethereum as the Buy network rather than assuming any network using ETH is Ethereum mainnet.
ETH and USDC on Base, for example, are network-specific balances. To receive on Ethereum mainnet, choose that destination explicitly in the app.
Ethereum mainnet is a specific destination
Check the destination network, asset and receiving address together. An EVM wallet can use the same address on several networks without sharing a single balance across them.
ETH is Ethereum's native gas asset. WETH is a wrapped token representation, not native ETH available directly for paying transaction gas. Stablecoins such as USDC and USDT also have specific token identities: verify the selected asset rather than trusting its symbol alone.
How to bridge into Ethereum
- Connect the wallet holding the source asset and choose its actual network.
- Select Ethereum mainnet as Buy, then choose ETH, USDC or the intended available destination token.
- Enter the amount and verify any requested receiving address.
- Wait for a route and inspect quoted output, Network cost, Max slippage and any Minimum received figure.
- Review wallet approvals and transaction details before confirming. Follow progress through the destination outcome.
A supported destination does not guarantee a quote for every pair or amount. Review the route currently offered for your selections.
Consider gas before and after bridging
Source transactions need the source network's gas asset. After receiving tokens on Ethereum, you may need ETH for later onchain actions. Do not assume receiving USDC or WETH also supplies native ETH.
Ethereum gas costs vary. Check the actual wallet requests and the fee guide rather than relying on a fixed price or treating Network cost as a complete itemized charge. Avoid counting costs twice when comparing quoted output with separately paid gas.
Common questions
Can I move USDC from Base to Ethereum?
Select USDC on Base as Sell and USDC on Ethereum as Buy, then review the route available for your amount and the destination token identity.
Does bridging always return ETH?
No. The destination token is part of your selection. A bridge or cross-chain swap can deliver a different supported asset.
When is the transfer complete?
Not merely when you sign or submit the source transaction. Follow the final status and destination explorer information where available. Keep the transaction hash if the outcome is uncertain and investigate before retrying.
